Why You Need a Monthly “Me” Check-In…
Let’s be real—life moves fast. One minute you’re paying bills and buying snacks for school, the next thing you know, three months have flown by and you can’t even remember the last time you did something just for you. That’s where a monthly “me” check-in comes in. Think of it as your personal reset button.
Here’s the truth: nobody else is going to pause your chaos and ask, “Hey, how are you really doing?” That’s on you. And checking in with yourself once a month is how you catch burnout before it catches you.
A monthly check-in is powerful because it:
- Keeps you honest. You’ll see where you’ve been overdoing it (hello, saying yes to everything) and where you’ve been neglecting yourself.
- Celebrates the small wins. Maybe you finally organized that closet, or maybe you just survived the week without crying in the bathroom stall—either way, it counts.
- Gives you permission to pivot. What you needed last month might not be what you need this month. Your priorities are allowed to change.
- Reminds you that you matter. Moms, caretakers, and busy women—we’re experts at putting ourselves last. A check-in is your way of saying, “Actually, my needs get a seat at the table too.”

The best part? It doesn’t take long. Fifteen minutes with your journal, a cup of coffee (or wine, no judgment), and some honest reflection is all it takes. Write down how you’re feeling, what drained you, what lit you up, and what you want more—or less—of next month.
Because here’s the thing: you deserve to know yourself better than anyone else does. And if you don’t pause to check in with you, who will? Below I have included some questions to consider and some questions that I ask myself at the end of each month in order to check in with myself.
